Rome2rio:
Rome2rio is an excellent site to start planning a route to your desired destination. It's best described as a one stop transport search engine. Just type in your starting point and destination and Rome2Rio will search all flight, train and bus tickets available. It even shows average taxi fare.
Its not 100% accurate but offers a good platform to research options in more detail.
The Man In Seat 61:
Seat61 is a great website for anyone wanting to find alternative transport other than flights. It best used when searching for details on rail travel. This site proved really useful in China where it has an extremely accurate timetable and station itinerary. Pretty handy your Mandarin and Cantonese skills are limited.
Travelfish:
Travelfish is an online travel guide. Type in any destination and prepare to drown in useful information. If your looking for guesthouses, activities, places to eat and transport details. look no further.
